She's a He?
Upon sighting the title of this article, your thoughts likely (and perhaps properly!) turned to Caster Semenya of South Africa, the reigning Women’s 800 metres world champion. ‘She’ reportedly had testosterone levels thrice as high as the average for women and no womb or ovaries but ‘her’ mother insisted ‘she’ was born female! Man? Woman? Well neither really. As it turns out, Semenya is a hermaphrodite. At least she is that way by nature. What of those who are blurring the lines deliberately? What do I mean?
Have you as yet had the misfortune of hearing a female thespian referred to as an actor rather than an actress? I wonder where is this whole gender equality/sensitivity thing is headed. First it was the Mrs./Ms protest, the argument being that it is not fair that a guy could hide behind a non-committal ‘Mr.’ while the ladies had to ‘show their hand’ by being either Mrs. or Ms. Very soon it will be wrong to refer to a woman as ‘she’.
The women’s liberationist movement has so successfully planted itself in mainstream consciousness that the men are falling over themselves to line up behind the Cause in proof of their sophistication. Non-supporters are monsters reincarnated from the middle ages. Without doubt, rejecting the artificial restraints and restrictions placed on women by myopic men over the centuries is a cause worthy of the support of all reasonable people whether male or female, but is it possible that a good thing has taken off at a tangent and ended up warped?
Sometime early last year, the media was awash with the story of some idiot who rigged himself up so he could carry a baby! There was a picture of him in the papers – fully bearded and heavily pregnant – a freak of science if I ever saw one. As far as I’m concerned a masculine woman is an aberration and an effeminate man? Tufiakwa! Just the phrase is an insult; I no fit shout.
And doesn’t all this gender-bending have a price? Social statistics on the conduct of young people are staggering. Thousands of teenagers are growing like wild weeds, with no perception or conception of responsibility or propriety and having no instruction or guidance are applying drugs, sex and violence as means of social expression/interaction. To many of them, life is just one endless music video! My point is, our future (young people) is being stolen by moral decadence and maybe we should be wondering if it has anything to do with the collapse of the family unit, which said collapse is perhaps connected to the confusion of gender roles on the home front.
Guys and gals alike, created in God’s image, are equal in essence but not in experience. The fact of God's ‘pre-emptory strike’ in giving us distinct bodily characteristics, should settle the matter by itself. I’m hoping my gal-friends will have the good sense to reject the false ‘equality’ that will rid them of their femininity and contribute to destroying the society.
A return to a pre-medieval existence where the man goes hunting and the woman stays home to cook, clean and take care of the kids is severely improbable and extremely impracticable! However the saying is true that ideals are like stars; you may not reach them but they can at least guide you. What, if anything can we learn from the traditional family model? The model as it is may have become anachronistic in application but are the principles upon which it was structured still relevant?
And as for our ‘experimentation gone overboard’ of a man, he should thank his stars that his well being doesn’t depend on me because much as I’m not mean, somehow I just cannot find it in me to wish a man a ‘safe delivery’!
